This is the month we lug out the watermelon, Mom's secret recipe fried chicken,
fire up the grill for barbecue ribs,hot dogs bursting burnt skins,fat juicy hamburgers with lots of onions,and the gallon size crock of potato salad and coleslaw.
If you are vegetarian,then maybe it's a peanut butter banana and jelly sandwich, or flame basted Boca burgers with mustard,on whole grain bread.
Then off! See the spectacular fireworks explode over the East River.
When I was a little girl,growing up on the Peninsula in Calif, there was nothing more magical for me and my baby sister,than holding dime sticks of sparklers in each hand. They usually fizzed out almost right after the match that lit them had blown out. But oh! the sensation of watching electric fire dance in my hands. But I learned that even as a sparkle fades away, I can still hold light in my heart. And freedom..
Now a beautiful sunset....can be magical...
